PHILIP WOO’S FORMLINE
Superb King was itching to salute with five placings at the Valley from 15 starts last term before returning with a brave second behind Jumbo Blessing after a difficult run chasing the pace from gate 12 over the Valley 1,000m. He can turn the tables with the weights in his favour and a better draw. Jumbo Blessing dashed well following yet another tardy start to beat a similar group 14 days ago. He is going for a third win on the bounce but must carry top weight. Harmony Fire rarely produces a bad run over this course and distance and should come on from a ground-covering fourth in that Jumbo Blessing race. Georgian Sigma placed in four of six starts last term before returning with a handy third to Jumbo Blessing from gate 10 for his new trainer over the Valley 1,000m. However, gate 12 will not make it easy.
TROUBLE IN RUNNING
JUMBO BLESSING (K529) jumped only fairly. Lay in over the final 200M and leaving the 200M shifted in and bumped a runner - Race 016.
COPPER CORE (L214) raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event - Race 844.
BLUE ILLUSION (K468) between the 300M and the 150M was held up for clear running - Race 016.
SUPERB KING (K479) raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event - Race 016.
DOUBLE ALPHA (L291) shortly after the start was bumped and then raced in restricted room. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event - Race 016.
SECRET INGREDIENT (L290) shortly after the start was bumped. Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event - Race 734.
FLYING TING LOK (K228) sustained a minor abrasion to the left hind leg whilst being transported to the course, was examined by the vet at the Start and passed suitable to race. Jumped awkwardly. Rider stated that her mount commenced to give ground after entering the Home Straight and when she was concerned there was something amiss she eased it down soon after. Post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. Finished tailed out and performance was considered unacceptable. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam which must include additional diagnostic assessments. Additional diagnostic assessments performed on the horse did not show any significant findings. - Race 770.
HARMONY FIRE (E175) near the 800M was eased. Leaving the 200M was bumped and became unbalanced - Race 016.
CASA BUDDY (L101) post-race vet inspection did not show any significant findings. Finished tailed out and performance was considered unacceptable. Has since performed to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and passed an official vet exam - Race 698.
MAPOGO (L175) raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event - Race 840. .
