Recap by phillip woo

Heavily backed Central Bank tracked the speed and after cruising to the lead 180m out, he was too good for a first win at his eighth local start. He had run well once and had a ton of excuses on another from two earlier dirt 1,200m runs this term. Favourite Raging Warrior just held off Armour War Eagle for second after improving to travel better than midfield coming to the final bend. He's caught the eye in both career starts over the dirt 1,200m. Armour War Eagle ran on nicely through the centre to just miss second after travelling second last following interference soon after the start. It was another solid run following a win. Good Luck Happy ran on nicely for fourth after a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was a pleasing first effort on the surface. Well-backed Flowing Riches made good ground late with one wider out for fifth after making his run fourth last from gate six. He has honest form on this surface. Leading Dragon gradually faded after dictating the run from gate two. He appears from his three runs across both surfaces this term to be on or near his mark. Good Power ran on without threatening from near the rear.

Racing Incident Report

Race Five : (143) - SHEK UK SHAN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 ARMOUR WAR EAGLE (J039) K C Leung Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between BETTER AND BETTER and EVERSTAR which was taken out by VIEW OF COSMOS.

Horse No 2 ENDURANCE EXPRESS (L397) H Y Yuen When questioned Apprentice H Y Yuen stated that her instructions were to have the horse ridden in a forward position.

She said after the horse began only fairly she then endeavoured to ride it forward to comply with her instructions, however, was unable to do so when positioned behind VIEW OF COSMOS.

She said from the 950 Metres her mount then commenced to race keenly and despite her efforts to settle her mount ENDURANCE EXPRESS continued to race keenly.

When questioned as to why she did not allow ENDURANCE EXPRESS to stride forward, Apprentice Yuen stated that as the horse was racing in blinkers for the first time she was concerned had she done so her mount would be required to do too much work and for this reason she maintained her position to the outside of VIEW OF COSMOS where she felt ENDURANCE EXPRESS was given the best opportunity to finish the race off from.

Horse No 3 CENTRAL BANK (L222) C L Chau Raced keenly in the early stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 FLOWING RICHES (K293) C Y Ho C Y Ho reported that the intention was to hold a more forward position, however, after FLOWING RICHES jumped awkwardly, this prevented him from being able to ride in accordance with his instructions and as a result settled further back.

Whilst the Stewards were satisfied that the riding of C Y Ho, 6th placegetter, over the concluding stages did not affect the horse's finishing position, he was nonetheless reminded of his obligation to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.

Horse No 6 RAGING WARRIOR (L401) J Orman Began only fairly and shortly afterwards was hampered by GOOD POWER which shifted out.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 BETTER AND BETTER (K277) A Badel Shortly after the start was bumped by ARMOUR WAR EAGLE and became unbalanced.

A Badel reported that he was instructed to endeavour to obtain a position with cover.

He said from the outside barrier he was caught wide in the early stages and when the early stages of the event were being run outside of standard time his mount commenced to race keenly.

He said he therefore elected to stride forward and obtained a position outside the leaders albeit wide and without cover.

He added that as a result BETTER AND BETTER was not able to finish the race off in the Home Straight and would be better suited being ridden more conservatively.

Trainer F C Lor confirmed the instructions issued.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 EVERSTAR (K264) H T Mo Shortly after the start was checked when crowded between ARMOUR WAR EAGLE and VIEW OF COSMOS which shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 12 VIEW OF COSMOS (L060) M F Poon On jumping shifted out despite the efforts of its rider and made contact with EVERSTAR.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
