Race Three : (101) - ELGIN HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1650Meters
Horse No 2 SHOOTING TO TOP (L039) Z Purton Shortly after the start became unbalanced when bumped by CALIFORNIA MOXIE.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 CALIFORNIA MOXIE (J131) B Avdulla Crowded shortly after the start by KYOTO SPRING which shifted in.
When questioned B Avdulla stated that near the 650 Metres when KYOTO SPRING improved past his mount CALIFORNIA MOXIE then shifted out abruptly and as a result he was obliged to correct his mount to prevent it from shifting further ground.
Horse No 4 RAINBOW SEVEN (K145) C Y Ho Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 650 Metres was checked to avoid CALIFORNIA MOXIE which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 THE AZURE (J227) C L Chau Held up making the Home Turn.
Horse No 6 DECISION LINK (K416) L Ferraris Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 7 KYOTO SPRING (L190) K C Leung Shifted in shortly after the start and made contact with CALIFORNIA MOXIE.
After travelling a short distance was crowded between RED BRICK WARRIOR which shifted in slightly and CALIFORNIA MOXIE which was taken out slightly by SHOOTING TO TOP.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 FAMILY KNIGHT (K490) M L Yeung Noted to have sustained abrasions on both knees on arrival at Happy Valley, was examined by the Veterinary Officer and passed suitable to race.
Near the 300 Metres was eased to avoid SHOOTING TO TOP which shifted out and away from RED BRICK WARRIOR.
M L Yeung reported that his mount jumped well and settled further forward than what he had anticipated.
He added in the Home Straight he was satisfied with his horse's finishing effort.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 9 RED BRICK WARRIOR (K580) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly.
Passing the winning post, RED BRICK WARRIOR, which was laying out, was steadied to avoid SHOOTING TO TOP (Z Purton) which shifted in.
Z Purton was advised to exercise more care.
Horse No 10 PRESTIGE RICKY (K009) K Teetan At declaration time A Atzeni was declared as the rider of both RED BRICK WARRIOR and PRESTIGE RICKY.
It was established that A Atzeni had a firm commitment to ride RED BRICK WARRIOR.
As such, the Stewards permitted K Teetan to be substituted as the rider of PRESTIGE RICKY.
For this declaration error, Trainer P F Yiu was fined $2,000.

Early favourite Shooting To Top had a dream run in the box seat from gate two before hitting the lead 150m out and just prevailing for a second win from nine starts. He had caught the eye in defeat after difficult runs in his first two starts this season. Punted late Prestige Ricky just got the bob down late for second after straightening one off following a rails run from midfield. He's trending towards a win after a closing fifth last Wednesday. Exceed The Limit ran on nicely along the inside to miss second by a lip after a patient ride second last. He can bob up at any time after running well from wide draws in each of his three outings this term. Brown-lamped Red Brick Warrior grudgingly gave way after dictating the run from gate six. It was an encouraging effort on his return to Class Four following a win. Well-backed to jump favourite, Decision Link had his chance but was only a one-paced fifth when things got serious following a prominent run. He remains a good money spinner for connections at the Valley. The Azure came from last to finish next best. He has gone OK in both starts this term.
