Recap by phillip woo

Well-backed Victor The Winner was locked in a speed battle outside Turquoise Velocity before leading 350m out and keeping on gamely for a ninth win from 37 starts. The move to a 10lb claimer worked the oracle. Smashed to jump favourite, Turquoise Velocity found one too good after vying for the lead along the inside from gate one. He's an honest sprinter across both tracks. Salon S stayed on well for third slotting one-off in third 800m out from gate 11. It was a good effort outside his comfort zone dictating the pace. Geneva was closing late to grab fourth after a patient ride three from the rear. He is honest.

Racing Incident Report

Race Ten : (55) - MAGPIE HANDICAP - Class 2 - 1200Meters

Horse No 2 MUGEN (H338) J Orman Jumped only fairly.

Over the final 100 Metres could not be fully tested when improving behind SALON S.

Horse No 3 RISING FORCE (K236) Z Purton Z Purton stated that he was satisfied with the horse's performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 4 SKY TRUST (J161) E C W Wong Bumped shortly after the start.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea and also found it to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Before being allowed to race again, SKY TRUST will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 5 AERIS NOVA (J534) K C Leung Bumped at the start.

From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 6 YOUNG CHAMPION (J195) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 7 VICTOR THE WINNER (G404) H Y Yuen Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 SALON S (K585) M F Poon Bumped at the start.

Lay in over the final 200 Metres.

Horse No 9 TURQUOISE VELOCITY (K533) K Teetan Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 GENEVA (J114) A Atzeni Shortly after the start was bumped by SKY TRUST.

When questioned A Atzeni stated that he expected GENEVA to settle back in the field and he had been instructed to hold the horse for a final run as GENEVA possess a short sprint.

He said after holding a rearward position, entering the Home Straight he encouraged the horse forward but did not apply full pressure having regard to his instructions.

He said his decision to do so was also influenced by the fact that TURQUOISE VELOCITY and VICTOR THE WINNER had gone quickly in front and he expected those horses to give ground in the Home Straight.

He added that when he approached the 300 Metres he then placed GENEVA under full pressure following the favourite RISING FORCE into the event before the horse finished the race off well over the concluding stages.

Trainer D J Hall confirmed the instructions, however, stated that, in his view, he would like to have seen the horse being placed under pressure sooner than it was on this occasion.

After considering his explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Atzeni that, in their opinion, he should have placed more pressure on the horse in the early stages of the Home Straight to improve his position, particularly having regard to the margin he was behind the leaders.

He was further advised in future he would be expected to ride his mounts with better judgement than he did on this occasion.

Horse No 11 PAKISTAN LEGACY (J363) M Chadwick Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 GLOWING PRAISES (L223) P N Wong Raced keenly in the middle stages and near the 900 Metres was steadied to avoid RISING FORCE (Z Purton) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear.

Z Purton was advised to exercise more care.
