Favourite Giant Leap enjoyed a one-out, one-back run and just got up in the final few metres for a fifth win from 36 starts. He was able to go one better after a head second last start. Mega Captain charged home late to make it close on the wire after making three from the rear from gate six. He was able to build on a first up fourth this term. Honest Witness was just overhauled in the concluding stages after dictating the run as expected from gate seven. He acquitted himself well at his first start on the surface. California Bay got going late for fourth without threatening the first three after making his run at the rear from gate 10. It was another honest effort on his return to dirt after staying on a close third last start at the Valley. Loving Vibes ran on steadily for fifth with three wider out after improving to travelling one off in midfield following a tardy start. It was a shade better effort at his second appearance over the dirt 1,200m. Sensationally backed Call Me Success came up one paced after a handy run on the fence. Good Chap ran on without threatening after settling third last from gate 11.

Horse No 2 MEGA CAPTAIN (L287) C Y Ho Began only fairly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 WOLF COMING (K353) C L Chau C L Chau reported that from the 500 Metres he became concerned there was something amiss with the horse and as a result he elected not to continue to pressure his mount.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

The performance of WOLF COMING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.

Before being allowed to race again, WOLF COMING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination which must include additional diagnostic assessments.

Horse No 7 TROPHY RAIDER (M020) A Badel Jumped awkwardly.

In the early stages raced keenly and near the 800 Metres was awkwardly placed behind WOLF COMING and shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 CALIFORNIA BAY (K364) K Teetan Jumped only fairly and despite being ridden along in the early stages was unable to hold a more forward position.

Horse No 9 RISING FROM ASHES (G209) J Orman Jumped awkwardly.

Near the 800 Metres when endeavouring to obtain a position behind TROPHY RAIDER was checked when TROPHY RAIDER shifted out slightly.

J Orman stated that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover from the 800 Metres and this was the only reason he could offer for his mount's disappointing performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to be a "roarer" which had previously been reported.

Horse No 10 NOBLE DELUXE (K052) M L Yeung M L Yeung could offer no explanation for his mount weakening in the Home Straight.

Horse No 12 LOVING VIBES (J359) L Hewitson L Hewitson advised that his instructions were to hold a forward position.

He said just prior to the start being effected LOVING VIBES lunged forward and as a consequence lost ground at the start.

He added LOVING VIBES then settled further back than had been intended.
