Race Two : (140) - WA MEI SHAN HANDICAP - Class 5 - 1650Meters
Horse No 1 DIAMOND SPARKLE (L182) L Hewitson A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 2 FLYING SNIPER (L270) M F Poon M F Poon reported that soon after straightening he had concerns with the action of FLYING SNIPER and as a result did not ride it out to the finish of the race.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Before being allowed to race again, FLYING SNIPER will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 3 HE WAS ME (J535) A Atzeni A Atzeni pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference approaching the 1400 Metres (see MAZING GRACE).
Near the 1400 Metres was bumped on the hindquarters on several occasions and became unbalanced.
A Atzeni stated that his mount did not appreciate racing on the All Weather surface for the first time.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 5 FLASH STAR (K431) C L Chau Crowded approaching the 1400 Metres.
Near the 1400 Metres shifted out and made contact with the hindquarters of ORIENTAL SURPRISE.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race found that horse to have bled from both nostrils.
Before being allowed to race again, FLASH STAR will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
Horse No 6 CELESTIAL HARMONY (K059) P N Wong On jumping shifted out despite the efforts of its rider and made contact with MAZING GRACE.
From the 500 Metres until near the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.
Horse No 7 VIVA TASTE (K415) M Chadwick Shortly after the start was hampered when placed in restricted room between FLYING SNIPER and HE WAS ME which shifted out slightly.
M Chadwick reported that inside the final 100 Metres he had some difficulty riding his mount out fully when positioned close to KASA PAPA which shifted in.

Horse No 9 ORIENTAL SURPRISE (K028) H Y Yuen Bumped approaching the 1400 Metres.
Near the 1400 Metres was crowded and became unbalanced when FLASH STAR shifted out.
Passing the 1300 Metres was steadied to avoid HE WAS ME (A Atzeni) which shifted in when not clear.
A Atzeni was severely reprimanded.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Horse No 10 MAZING GRACE (K166) R Kingscote Shortly after the start was crowded when tightened for room between CELESTIAL HARMONY which shifted out despite the efforts of its rider and WINNING DIAMOND which was taken in by FLASH STAR.
A Atzeni (HE WAS ME) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that approaching the 1400 Metres he permitted his mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of ORIENTAL SURPRISE, making contact with ORIENTAL SURPRISE and taking that runner in onto FLASH STAR.
As a result FLASH STAR was then taken in onto WINNING DIAMOND, resulting in WINNING DIAMOND being taken across the running of MAZING GRACE, causing MAZING GRACE to be checked and lose its running between WINNING DIAMOND and CELESTIAL HARMONY.
A Atzeni was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Wednesday, 18 November 2026 at Happy Valley.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his very good race riding record.

Horse No 12 SPEEDY TRIDENT (K230) M L Yeung When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer Y S Tsui stated that the horse had obtained a fitness benefit from its two runs this preparation and also had appreciated racing on the All Weather surface.

Rank outsider Speedy Trident came from last and widest out to take control 100m out for a maiden win at his 23rd local start. It was clearly his best performance from three starts over the dirt 1,650m, but he did have the pace to suit. Kasa Papa found one just too good after briefly hitting the lead 150m out following a patient ride one from the rear. He has run well in each of his three dirt 1,650m runs. Mazing Grace came on late to snatch third after a one-off trip with cover travelling worse than midfield. He was able to build on a pleasing fifth last start at his initial run over the dirt 1,650m. Viva Taste lost third late after getting impeded over the concluding stages by Kasa Papa after taking off 650m out following a wide trip towards the rear. He can produce a good run now and then on this surface. Celestial Harmony ran on late to just grab fifth after having to come off heels for a clear run 200m out following a patient ride three from the rear. It was a better effort second up, but he is well rated off a win last season. Firming favourite Winning Diamond came up one paced after a rails run from midfield.
