Recap by phillip woo

Post-time favourite Storm Mirror led and kept up a strong gallop after straightening two lengths on top for back-to-back wins. He was a winner last start without a penalty after a move yesterday to claimer Nichola Yuen. Prestige Come stayed on nicely for second after wide trip near the front from gate eight. He's a winner waiting to happen with seconds in both starts this term. Mr Cool kept battling away for third settling midfield coming to the final bend after getting pulled back to travel behind midfield early on following a quick start. It was another good run carrying more weight following a win. Tang Heart was making noticeable ground with two wider out for fourth after a patient ride second last from gate 11. It was an improved effort following a downgrade.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eight : (135) - LUKFOOK JEWELLERY HEIRLOOM FORTUNE COLLECTION HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 STORM MIRROR (L179) H Y Yuen When placed under pressure in the Home Straight shifted out abruptly near the 150 Metres, resulting in its rider Apprentice H Y Yuen having to stop riding and straighten her mount.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 TANG HEART (L373) E C W Wong Shifted out at the start and made contact with GRAND PATCH.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Between the 400 Metres and the 300 Metres was held up for clear running.

Horse No 3 MR COOL (K184) K Teetan Near the 400 Metres was bumped by FLASH CURRENT which attempted to shift out.

When questioned K Teetan stated that his instructions were to settle the horse where comfortable but not to ride it along in the early stages.

He said those instructions were issued as MR COOL had not finished its races off last season when ridden in a forward position.

He said at its last start win on 4 October 2026 MR COOL was able to obtain a handy position without being ridden along to do so and his intention was to ride the horse in a similar manner today.

He said whilst MR COOL jumped well he was of the opinion he would have had to make too much use of the horse in the early stages to cross runners to his inside and for this reason he elected to restrain his mount to attempt to obtain a position with cover behind PRESTIGE COME.

He said when GENIUS BABY and GRAND PATCH improved to his inside he was unable to obtain cover and as a result was obliged to race very wide and without cover in the early stages.

He said as the pace of the event was being run outside of standard time he then elected to ride MR COOL forward from the 900 Metres to cross GRAND PATCH where he then raced wide and without cover for the remainder of the middle stages.

Trainer F C Lor confirmed the instructions issued and expressed satisfaction with the ride of Jockey Teetan.

After considering his explanation the Stewards advised Jockey Teetan that he had made an error of judgement in the early stages in not attempting to cross runners to his inside, particularly when MR COOL had jumped well and the early and middle stages of the event were being run outside of standard time.

Horse No 5 GRAND PATCH (L293) C Y Ho Bumped at the start.

From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

C Y Ho reported that his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event and as a result found it difficult to run on in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 7 FLASH CURRENT (J500) K C Leung In the middle stages raced keenly and near the 700 Metres was checked to avoid PRESTIGE COME.

Near the 400 Metres shifted out and made contact with MR COOL when attempting to shift to the outside of PRESTIGE COME.

Horse No 8 ROAD TO GLORY (L415) Z Purton Z Purton stated that his mount, which is relatively inexperienced, did not appreciate racing in amongst other horses and finished the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.

Trainer J Richards advised that, in his view, ROAD TO GLORY would be suited by being stepped up in distance for its next race start and also may not have appreciated the "Good to Firm??track conditions.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 9 KING ZOOM (L279) J Orman Slow to begin.

When questioned regarding his riding in the Home Straight and the reason he did not shift to the inside of ROAD TO GLORY sooner, J Orman stated that after following ROAD TO GLORY into the Home Straight he was content to remain racing behind that runner whilst encouraging his horse to improve.

He said when ROAD TO GLORY did not improve into the race as he had expected he then shifted to the inside of that runner near the 300 Metres to secure clear running.

He added that his mount then commenced to finish the race off well but over the final 100 Metres could not be ridden out when it improved close to FLASH CURRENT.

The Stewards advised Jockey Orman that, in their opinion, he had made an error of judgement in not improving to the inside of ROAD TO GLORY sooner than what he did to ensure that his mount was provided with the first available opportunity to improve.

Horse No 10 PRESTIGE COME (L261) R Kingscote After travelling a short distance became unbalanced when racing tight to the inside of MR COOL.

Over the final 200 Metres lay in under pressure.

R Kingscote stated that the instructions were to hold a midfield position.

He said when caught wide in the early stages and the pace of the event was being run outside of standard time he elected to allow his mount to stride forward to obtain a position closer to the rail.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 12 GENIUS BABY (K132) A Badel From a wide barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Horse No 13 LET'S HAVE FUN (L118) M F Poon M F Poon stated that he was obliged to settle further back in the field than intended to ensure he obtained a position with cover.

He said LET'S HAVE FUN was obliged to race three wide during the race before finishing the race off only fairly in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 14 ALABAMA SONG (K480) A Atzeni From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
