Race Six : (124) - THE LONGINES CUP (HANDICAP) - Class 2 - 1000Meters
Horse No 1 BOTTOMUPTOGETHER (J316) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 3 SUPERB CAPITALIST (H092) Y L Chung Y L Chung stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position and when his mount jumped only fairly and did not show sufficient early pace it settled further back than intended.
Horse No 4 HORSEPOWER (J431) A Atzeni Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 5 SIGHT HERMOSO (L003) H Bentley Bumped shortly after the start.
Horse No 8 LOVE TOGETHER (L052) A Badel Shortly after the start made contact with SIGHT HERMOSO.
After travelling a short distance made contact with GLOWING PRAISES due to both runners shifting ground.
A Badel stated that he was unable to cross runners to his inside in the early stages and as a consequence his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event where it hung out.
Trainer C Fownes advised the horse had pleased him leading into the race and stated that LOVE TOGETHER was disadvantaged by being caught wide and the manner in which it raced throughout the event.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 10 CANDLELIGHT DINNER (J468) M Chadwick Hung in under pressure in the Home Straight.

Drifting out in betting Bottomuptogether cleared to lead from gate 10 and was much too smart for a seventh win, three-from-three over the Valley 1,000m, from 25 starts. He was given a tonne of weight all around to his rivals but was a class above the rest. Horsepower came from near last and widest out to snatch second. It was another effort following a straight 1,000m success at Sha Tin. Glowing Praises stuck on well for third after one-off trip from midfield. He had placed second in one of two past Valley 1,000m runs. Sensationally backed Aurora Lady lost a placing late after a speedtracking run from gate nine. It was a good effort, but he is more effective over 1,200m. Sight Hermoso ran on late for fifth after making his run one from the rear. He needed the run after a 154-day break. Superb Capitalist just held his ground in midfield after a tardy start. You can forgive the run by favourite Love Together who was never on the track travelling behind midfield despite gate four. Candlelight Dinner tamely faded after a box-seat run. He's disappointed in both outings this term.
