Recap by phillip woo

Favourite Virtus Glory had a one-off trip travelling behind midfied and quickened nicely to take over the near 100m and go away. He deserved that after seconds in his first two starts this term. Master Phoenix made a nice impression late down the outside to just miss second after a wide trip towards the rear from gate 10 but was promoted to second following an objection. It was his best effort from three Valley 1,200m starts. Flying Ting Lok just out dashed Master Phoenix for second after straightening one from the right travelling four from the rear but was later demoted to third for interference at the top of the straight. It was still one his better effort from 13 local runs. Master Resolute hung around for fourth after a speed-tracking run outside Lightness Of Being from gate six. It was a good effort off a 252-day injury induced absence. Lucky McQueen made good strides late through the centre to just miss the frame after making his run at the rear from gate 12. Matzden kept on one paced after a one-off trip from midfield. Lightness Of Being was on his tippy toes over the last 100m after dictating the run from gate eight.

Racing Incident Report

Race Four : (122) - SWIFTY HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 LUCKY MCQUEEN (K064) M F Poon M F Poon confirmed the instructions were to endeavour to hold a midfield position with cover.

He said when caught wide from the outside barrier he was obliged to settle towards the back of the field to ensure that his mount obtained cover.

Horse No 2 MASTER RESOLUTE (K403) R Kingscote After travelling a short distance was steadied when crowded between MATZDEN and LIGHTNESS OF BEING (Y L Chung) which shifted in.

Approaching the 1000 Metres MASTER RESOLUTE was then steadied to avoid LIGHTNESS OF BEING which shifted in when not sufficiently clear.

Y L Chung was advised to exercise more care in respect of both incidents.

Horse No 3 MATZDEN (L133) J Orman Near the 200 Metres was eased to avoid VIRTUS GLORY (Apprentice H Y Yuen) which shifted in before being corrected.

Apprentice Yuen was advised to exercise more care and in similar circumstances to straighten her mounts sooner than what she did on this occasion.

Horse No 4 VIRTUS GLORY (L298) H Y Yuen When questioned Apprentice H Y Yuen confirmed her instructions were to go forward and attempt to lead.

She said although VIRTUS GLORY jumped well, when a number of runners to her inside showed better speed she did not continue forward to contest the lead.

She said her decision to do so was also on the basis that she was of the opinion it was advantageous to position the horse with cover having regard to tonight's track pattern.

Trainer P F Yiu confirmed the instructions were to lead.

Noted to be displaying mild signs of "thumps" after the race.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 HARVEST MOON (L419) A Atzeni Shifted out abruptly on jumping and made heavy contact with SHOW ME YOUR LOVE.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 VIGOR FLY (L417) H Bentley Jumped only fairly and then raced tight to the inside of MASTER PHOENIX which shifted in.

Making the Home Turn became unbalanced when racing tight to the inside of FLYING TING LOK.

Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind LIGHTNESS OF BEING.

Horse No 7 MASTER PHOENIX (J516) L Ferraris Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

The Stewards considered a protest/objection lodged by Mr D Eustace, trainer of the 3rd placegetter, MASTER PHOENIX, against FLYING TING LOK (Apprentice P N Wong) being declared the 2nd placegetter alleging interference on the Home Turn.

After taking evidence from the parties concerned the Stewards found that FLYING TING LOK shifted out near the 350 Metres when not sufficiently clear of MASTER PHOENIX, resulting in MASTER PHOENIX being checked to avoid FLYING TING LOK, shifting out and losing ground.

The Stewards were satisfied that had this incident not have occurred MASTER PHOENIX would have finished in advance of FLYING TING LOK.

Therefore the protest/objection was sustained and the placings amended to read No.

4, VIRTUS GLORY, 1st; No.

7, MASTER PHOENIX, 2nd; No.

8, FLYING TING LOK, 3rd; and No.

2, MASTER RESOLUTE, 4th.

At a subsequent inquiry Apprentice P N Wong pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 350 Metres she allowed her mount to shift out when insufficiently clear of MASTER PHOENIX, resulting in MASTER PHOENIX being taken out and having to be checked to avoid FLYING TING LOK.

Apprentice Wong was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence on Sunday, 22 November 2026 and to expire on Thursday, 26 November 2026 on which day she may resume race riding (2 Hong Kong racedays).

In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered her good race riding record.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 FLYING TING LOK (K228) P N Wong On jumping was bumped heavily on the hindquarters by SHOW ME YOUR LOVE and became badly unbalanced.

Apprentice P N Wong pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 350 Metres (see MASTER PHOENIX).

Relegated to 3rd placing on protest/objection (see MASTER PHOENIX).

Horse No 9 SHOW ME YOUR LOVE (L355) L Hewitson On jumping was checked when crowded by HARVEST MOON which shifted out abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

Horse No 10 HIGH RISE VICTORY (L128) K C Leung A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 11 LIGHTNESS OF BEING (K159) Y L Chung Y L Chung stated that the instructions were to be midfield.

He said when caught wide in the early stages he was obliged to continue forward and lead the event to avoid covering additional ground.

Horse No 12 FREE PONY (K229) M L Yeung Jumped only fairly.

Shortly after the start was steadied to avoid MASTER RESOLUTE which shifted out and away from MATZDEN.

Approaching the 200 Metres improved into a run between SHOW ME YOUR LOVE and HARVEST MOON (A Atzeni) which shifted in when racing greenly.

As a result FREE PONY was then checked when crowded by HARVEST MOON.

A Atzeni was reprimanded and advised he must make a greater effort to prevent his mounts from shifting ground.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
