Outsider Bunta Baby settled in the box seat before rushing to the lead 80m out and just holding off favourite Solid State for a fourth win and first at Sha Tin from 20 starts. He was able to build on a closing fifth last start over the Valley 1,000m. Solid State was closing with every stride late following a one-off trip from midfield. It was a good run in defeat carrying top weight. Smashed late in betting, Lucy In The Sky dictated the pace for third from gate 12. It was another good run carrying 8lb more following a win. Helene Supafeeling was doing his best work late for fourth after getting baulked for a run 300m out travelling behind midfield on the fence. It was another honest effort, but he may prefer 1,400m nowadays. Packing Glory kept on all right after a wide trip without cover.

Racing Incident Report

Race Eleven : (78) - YAU KOM TAU HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 HELENE SUPAFEELING (L028) C L Chau On jumping was bumped by GRAND EAGLE which shifted out at the start.

On straightening was held up for clear running and was checked and shifted in near the 300 Metres to avoid the heels of GOLD PATCH to obtain clear running.

Horse No 2 SOLID STATE (L411) Z Purton Near the 800 Metres was steadied when crowded momentarily by GOLD PATCH which shifted in before being straightened by its rider.

Near the 400 Metres got unbalanced when racing in restricted room between PACKING GLORY and GOLD PATCH which shifted out slightly.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 4 GOLD PATCH (L099) C Y Ho Was checked near the 350 Metres after being bumped by CITY GOLD BANNER which shifted out.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 5 BUNTA BABY (J465) L Ferraris L Ferraris was severely reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out near the 350 Metres where there was insufficient room to improve between LUCY IN THE SKY and SHANGHAI WARRIOR.

As a result of this shift SHANGHAI WARRIOR shifted out, resulting in interference caused to a number of runners, the main sufferers being CITY GOLD BANNER, GOLD PATCH and GRAND EAGLE, all having to be checked.

In arriving at this decision the Stewards could not be satisfied that CITY GOLD BANNER had established a clear run to the outside of SHANGHAI WARRIOR and for that reason no direct action was taken.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 RADIANT PATH (L407) M Chadwick Near the 900 Metres, when racing keenly, shifted out and bumped ALMIGHTY LIGHTNING, forcing that horse wider on the track.

Horse No 7 GRAND EAGLE (L336) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and bumped HELENE SUPAFEELING.

Near the 350 Metres was checked after being bumped by GOLD PATCH which shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 CITY GOLD BANNER (L155) J Orman Near the 350 Metres was checked when endeavouring to establish a run between GOLD PATCH and SHANGHAI WARRIOR which shifted out after being taken out by BUNTA BABY.

Horse No 9 ALMIGHTY LIGHTNING (L126) K C Leung Near the 900 Metres was forced wider on the track after being bumped by RADIANT PATH which shifted out when over-racing.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 10 PACKING GLORY (L013) H Y Yuen Raced very wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 11 SHANGHAI WARRIOR (L434) L Hewitson Near the 350 Metres was brushed and shifted out as a result of a bump from BUNTA BABY.

Horse No 14 MASTER PAYMENT (L159) A Badel Trainer C H Yip confirmed that the instructions were to ride the horse back from a wide barrier.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No THE UNIQUE STAR (L122) K Teetan Withdrawn on 3.10.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame right fore) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter ALMIGHTY LIGHTNING.

Before being allowed to race again, THE UNIQUE STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Races 6 to 9 were each put back 10 minutes whilst Races 10 and 11 were each put back 5 minutes.

Addition to Racing Incidents Report of 1 October 2026 Sha Tin Racemeeting Race 10 (66) MASTER LUCKY - A Atzeni was questioned today regarding the tactics adopted, particularly the early and middle stages of the race, when it was previously reported that the horse had a tendency to over-race.

Jockey Atzeni explained that the instructions were to follow the speed and when being challenged for that position outside the lead by SAMARKAND which was to his outside passing the 1100 Metres, he made the decision to allow that runner to cross rather than continuing to contest that position which at the time he felt would be detrimental to the horse's chances.

He added having ridden MASTER LUCKY on several occasions it was the first time it had over-raced in this manner and explained that it was also not the intention to lead on MASTER LUCKY at its last start but had to do so to avoid covering additional ground.

Trainer J Size confirmed the instructions and accepted Jockey Atzeni's explanation as to why he did not take up a more forward position given the pressure and the clear intention from SAMARKAND's rider to obtain a position outside the lead.

In all the circumstances, having had the benefit of considering the explanations, the Stewards were of the opinion that the decision made by Jockey Atzeni to allow SAMARKAND to cross was not unreasonable and took no further action.
