Horsepower quickened nicely from midfield from gate eight to take control 30m out for a fourth win from 17 starts and second from five starts over the straight 1,000m. It was a good run carrying top weight after an opening fourth last month at the Valley. Punted late Casa of Honor stayed on nicely to just grab second after a prominent run near the stands side. It was his best effort from six starts over the straight 1,000m. Lahore found a couple too good after hitting the lead 140m out near the far side from better than midfield. He was up to the challenge in Class Three after back-to-back Class Four wins.

Horse No 1 HORSEPOWER (J431) A Atzeni After passing the 400 Metres was held up for clear running before shifting back in inside the 300 Metres to obtain clear running.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 2 ALPHA STRIKE (L019) J Orman J Orman could offer no explanation for his mount's performance today other than it wanted to hang in.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

The performance of ALPHA STRIKE, a last start winner, was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, ALPHA STRIKE will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 4 CELESTIAL HERO (K363) Z Purton On jumping got unbalanced when crowded for room between LUCKY CANDY and MICKLEY after both horses shifted ground.

When questioned Z Purton explained that after his mount lost ground at the start CELESTIAL HERO was out paced in the early stages as it does not possess the necessary speed to stay in touch with the field over the 1000 Metre distance of today's race, and endeavouring to ride his mount with any more vigour than he did CELESTIAL HERO would have failed to finish the race off.

He added that he elected in the circumstances to ensure his mount was balanced up and given the opportunity to finish the race off.

He said when his mount was making good ground inside the 200 Metres he was held up for clear running over the concluding stages and subsequently was unable to ride his mount out to the end of the race.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 SMART OINK (L542) H Y Yuen Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and made heavy contact with the hindquarters of CONGHUA GALAXY.

Horse No 7 CASA OF HONOR (K310) M F Poon From the 400 Metres was held up for clear running before shifting in near the 200 Metters to obtain a clear run.

Horse No 9 CONGHUA GALAXY (L337) L Ferraris Was heavily contacted on the hindquarters by SMART OINK which shifted out after jumping awkwardly.

Horse No 10 INVINCIBLE STEED (L312) C Y Ho Shortly after the start shifted in and made contact with LUCKY CANDY.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 13 LUCKY CANDY (L041) K Teetan Shifted in at the start and made contact with CELESTIAL HERO and as a result got unbalanced and shifted back out, making contact with INVINCIBLE STEED.

Near the 850 Metres was checked to avoid the heels of LAHORE which shifted out when being taken out slightly by ALPHA STRIKE (J Orman).

J Orman was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift out when not fully clear.

However, in arriving at this decision the Stewards took into account the racing manners of LAHORE in this incident.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 14 LAHORE (K043) A Badel Near the 850 Metres got its head up when being steadied to avoid the heels of ALPHA STRIKE which shifted out when not fully clear.
