Specked late Chiu Chow Golf finished strongly down the outside from behind midfield to just nail Super Love by a nose for a first win at his third start. The move to a tongue tie paid off. Early favourite Super Love did everything right but get the win after leading 50m out following a rails run from midfield. He's trending towards a win. Punted late Ghorgan stayed on a close third leading 200m out after slotting fifth with cover from gate 13. He's improved from one run to the next for his new trainer this term. Etalon Or kept plugging away for fourth after working forward three wide to track the speed.

Racing Incident Report

Race Six : (51) - TAILORBIRD HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1400Meters

Horse No 1 ETALON OR (J273) H Y Yuen Raced wide and without cover until near the 600 Metres.

Horse No 2 TURIN CHAMPIONS (L024) L Hewitson On the Home Turn was hampered when taken wider by LUCKY MAN which shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 CIRCUIT FIERY (H475) P N Wong Over the concluding stages could not be ridden out when held up behind HAROLD WIN.

Horse No 4 HAROLD WIN (J280) C L Chau A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 BUCEPHALAS (K096) K C Leung Jumped only fairly.

Shortly after the start was eased when crowded between HOT AIR BALLON and CHIU CHOW GOLF, both of which shifted ground.

Approaching the 1300 Metres improved to the inside of HOT AIR BALLON as HOT AIR BALLON was shifting in.

As a result BUCEPHALAS was steadied when crowded by HOT AIR BALLON.

Noted to have lost its right front plate after the race.

Horse No 6 GREEN AUTUMN (L352) K Teetan Jumped awkwardly.

Horse No 8 LUCKY MAN (J315) Z Purton Near the 1150 Metres, when racing keenly, was steadied to avoid HAROLD WIN (C L Chau) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear.

C L Chau was reprimanded.

LUCKY MAN continued to race keenly in the middle stages.

Horse No 10 CHIU CHOW GOLF (L216) H Bentley Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 GOLDEN GUNNERS (L306) E C W Wong A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 12 HOT AIR BALLON (K144) B Avdulla Jumped only fairly.

Between the 400 Metres and the 250 Metres was held up for clear running.

Over the final 100 Metres then had difficulty obtaining clear running when attempting to improve between SUPER LOVE and GHORGAN.

Horse No 13 SUPER LOVE (K118) C Y Ho Prior to declaring weighed-in the Stewards viewed the patrol films to ascertain if there were sufficient grounds for a protest/objection against CHIU CHOW GOLF (H Bentley) being declared the winner due to both runners making contact near the 25 Metres.

When the Stewards were satisfied that the contact was due to both runners shifting ground and also CHIU CHOW GOLF had improved from behind SUPER LOVE they were satisfied there were not sufficient grounds to lodge a protest/objection.

At a subsequent inquiry the Stewards inquired into the riding action of C Y Ho and the reason his left arm extended towards H Bentley when the two horses made contact near the 25 Metres.

Jockey Ho stated that as he was in the process of using his whip it became entangled between the two horses and whilst his left arm did extend away from his body this was in an attempt to free his whip so that he could continue to use it.

Jockey Bentley stated that in this incident he did not feel any contact between himself and Jockey Ho.

After considering his evidence the Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Jockey Ho, however he was advised to ensure that, wherever possible, his arm remains within the confines of his body to avoid making contact with another rider.
