Favourite Apex Glory cleared to lead from gate 12 and was much the best for a maiden win at start five. The riding change to Zac Purton helped after a pleasing fourth 14 days ago. Punted late Little Monster just got the better of Navas G for second after a one-off trip with cover travelling third. He was able to build on a ground-covering fifth on his return. Navas G kept on well for third after a speed-chasing run from gate 10 under a 10lb claimer. He goes well fresh. Newcomer Not Usual Double just failed to grab third after coming off heels for a clear run 180m out following a rails run from behind midfield.

Horse No 1 NOT USUAL DOUBLE (L464) M L Yeung Bumped on jumping.

Passing the 200 Metres was eased and shifted to the outside of LITTLE MONSTER to continue into clear running.

Horse No 2 DAILY FUN (L231) L Ferraris Jumped awkwardly.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 ULTRA BOLT (L387) E C W Wong Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 4 LITTLE MONSTER (K391) M Chadwick Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 8 APEX GLORY (L265) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 RYUI KOKOROE (L120) H Bentley Near the 1100 Metres was eased when momentarily crowded by SOO KOO which shifted in and away from NAVAS G.

Approaching the 300 Metres had difficulty obtaining clear running when improving between JUST FOLLOW ME and GLACIATED.

Near the 100 Metres RYUI KOKOROE, which was laying in, was eased to avoid JUST FOLLOW ME which shifted out slightly.

The Veterinary Surgeon reported that RYUI KOKOROE had bled from both nostrils after the race.

Before being allowed to race again, RYUI KOKOROE will be required to perform satisfactorily in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Horse No 12 GLACIATED (K272) C Y Ho C Y Ho was fined the sum of $5,000 for returning to scale in excess of 2 lbs overweight.
