Chan Tsz-yin, 13, Stewards MKMCF Ma Ko Pan Memorial College: I went to a butterfly farm, and lots of butterflies landed on me. I was having a lot of fun while others looked very envious of me. It was so funny!
Hannah Ip, 10, Hong Kong Baptist University Affiliated School Wong Kam Fai Secondary and Primary School: My friend came to sleep over at my house. We played games on our phones and on the Nintendo console. We also talked about funny things while drinking bubble tea, and I almost choked when she told me hers. I started giggling. Do you know what she told me? She said, “Let’s stay up at night, creep out for snacks and play hide and seek.” She added that we should bring back really heavy things and keep them by the dinner table and see how my parents react.
Chong Hok-yu, 14, Ho Yu College and Primary School (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen): During summer, my friends and I were playing table tennis when something unexpected happened. One of my friends wears glasses. We were playing normally until, from the side, my best friend’s strong forehand shot smashed the ball into my friend’s glasses, and they broke. It was the funniest thing I have ever seen.
Zofie Wong, 13, Renaissance College: I, a girl, went with my friend, who is a boy, to eat sushi and just hang out. But my female friends from school ended up going to the same restaurant. I had to deal with them teasing me and my male friend for the whole hang-out session. So embarrassing!
Haylie Lam Hiu-yu, 14, Pui Tak Canossian College: During a visit to Jiangmen, in southern China, a group of my friends and I were getting off a bus that had the lights off. Two of my friends started playing around, and, as one of them was distracted, he bumped his head on the compartment above while standing up. Ouch!
Lauren Lee, 10, French International School: I asked my mother, “A bat and a ball cost $1.10 altogether and the bat costs a dollar more. So how much does the ball cost?” She answered incorrectly, and she was so insistent she was correct that she resorted to searching the internet to prove herself. It was so amusing.
Zhuang Kai-wing, 16, Fung Kai Liu Man Shek Tong Secondary School: I tried making home-made dumplings with my family. My filling was too salty, but we still ate them all. The messy‑but‑warm meal became my funniest summer memory, full of joy and laughter.
Ryan Cheung Yin-yuk, 15, CCC Kung Lee College: Watching Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the cinema with my friends. It was a blast! Spider-Man dive-kicked through a car window to stop reckless driving, and Frank wore Spider-Man’s mask as a double agent. You should definitely watch it.
Leung Yan-yu, 14, Ho Yu College and Primary School (Sponsored by Sik Sik Yuen): I went shrimp fishing with my dad and little brother. My brother was very excited. He shouted so loudly when a shrimp came up to us that it almost swam away. We laughed a lot. At the end of the day, we caught three small shrimp.
Cathy Tsoi Tsz-ching, 17, Fung Kai Liu Man Shek Tong Secondary School: Without a doubt, the best moment of my summer was the Animation-Comic-Game (ACG) expo. Cosplayers, fan art and game demos thrilled me. But the real joy was talking with fellow fans in queues – exchanging favourites and tips. That instant connection and collective passion turned a fun day into an unforgettable summer memory.
