Racing Incident Report
Race Seven : (52) - HWAMEI HANDICAP - Class 3 - 1200Meters
Horse No 1 AURORA PATCH (K097) C Y Ho C Y Ho stated that the intention was to hold a more forward position but after jumping only fairly and being crowded shortly after the start between PACKING KING and DEVAS TWELVE his mount settled further back in the field than intended.
Trainer K L Man confirmed the instructions issued.
Horse No 2 MIGHTY COMMANDER (J360) L Ferraris From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.
Near the 700 Metres was bumped by ALL'S WELL and as a result became unbalanced.
Horse No 3 RIDING TOGETHER (K081) A Atzeni Became unbalanced when badly crowded near the 600 Metres.
Horse No 4 ALL'S WELL (K294) H Bentley Jumped only fairly.
Approaching the 700 Metres commenced to race keenly and as a result shifted out and became unbalanced when it made contact with MIGHTY COMMANDER.
Horse No 5 FOUR STARS ALIGN (L481) Y L Chung Y L Chung pleaded guilty to a careless riding charge for causing interference near the 600 Metres (see PACKING KING).
Shifted out near the 350 Metres and became unbalanced when it made contact with SPEEDY SMARTIE.
Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.
Y L Chung was questioned in relation to his riding out of the horse to the finish and in particular the final two strides of the event where he stopped riding.
Jockey Chung stated that approaching the winning post he heard a call from a rider positioned to his inside and for this reason he stopped riding and placed pressure on his left rein to prevent FOUR STARS ALIGN from shifting in.
After considering his evidence and viewing the patrol films the Stewards accepted the explanation provided by Jockey Chung, however, he was advised, wherever possible, to ensure that he fully rides his mounts out to the finish of the race.
Horse No 7 HOTT SHOTT (L147) M F Poon A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 8 BUSTLING CITY (L210) B Avdulla Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No 9 PACKING KING (K570) E C W Wong E C W Wong was fined the sum of $5,000 for a breach of Rule 89(2) in that he changed his riding breeches and boots after weighing out.
Y L Chung (FOUR STARS ALIGN) pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding [Rule 100(1)] in that near the 600 Metres he allowed his mount to shift in when not clear of RIDING TOGETHER, resulting in RIDING TOGETHER, PACKING KING and DEVAS TWELVE being badly crowded for room and also causing PACKING KING to be checked.
Y L Chung was suspended from riding in races for one Hong Kong raceday to be conducted on Sunday, 4 October 2026 at Sha Tin.
In assessing penalty, the Stewards determined the carelessness grade 2 and the consequences grade 2 and also considered his excellent race riding record.
Jockey Wong stated that after being checked near the 600 Metres his mount failed to run on thereafter.
The performance of PACKING KING, which finished tailed out, was considered unacceptable.
Before being allowed to race again, PACKING KING will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.
Horse No 10 DEVAS TWELVE (H435) H T Mo Badly crowded near the 600 Metres.
Horse No 12 SPEEDY SMARTIE (H108) K Teetan Near the 350 Metres FOUR STARS ALIGN shifted out and made contact with SPEEDY SMARTIE which was taken wider.
Sent for sampling post-race.
Horse No HERBAL STAR (L053) M Chadwick Withdrawn on 26.9.26 by order of the Stewards acting on veterinary advice (lame left hind) and replaced by Standby Declared Starter ENDURANCE EXPRESS.
Before being allowed to race again, HERBAL STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

Firming favourite Bustling City smoked them after straightening four lengths on top dictating the pace from gate six for back-to-back wins following a switch to dirt racing. He clearly has the tools to win again on this surface. Speedy Smartie ran on well to grab second 100m out following a one-off trip from behind midfield. It was another solid effort up in grade off a light weight. Aurora Patch came from last and widest out to snatch third after a sluggish start. It was another honest performance carrying top weight. Four Stars Align just lost a placing after a four wide and without trip travelling midfield.
