Fortunate Son was wide with cover in midfield from gate eight before launching to the lead 150m out and proving too smart for back-to-back wins this term. He's finally living up to his earlier promise. Fivefortwo came from last and widest out from the 800m to grab second. He's honest and the step up to 1,800m was not a problem. Early favourite Seraph Gabriel just got up for third after settling fourth on the fence. It was a pleasing effort carrying a share of top weight at his first city track start. China Win lost a placing late after sitting third in the run wide without cover from gate 11. He's run well in both starts this term. Thumped to jump favourite, Windlord gradually faded after rushing forward to lead 1,500m out from gate 10. He was able to back up a second on his season debut over the Valley 1,650m. The Auspicious kept on one paced over the last 100m after coming from near last at the 1,000m. Flying Fortune faded after a handy run one off the fence. The combination of a rise in class and step up to 1,800m worked against him. Well-backed Lo Rider only beat a few from near the rear.

Horse No 1 KA YING GENERATION (J075) A Atzeni Approaching the 1300 Metres was crowded by WITHOUT COMPARE.

A Atzeni stated that his mount, which was having its first race start at Happy Valley, did not travel throughout the event and failed to run on in the Home Straight.

The performance of KA YING GENERATION was considered disappointing.

Before being allowed to race again, KA YING GENERATION will be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial and be subjected to an official veterinary examination.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 3 WITHOUT COMPARE (L151) J Orman Raced keenly throughout the early stages.

Approaching the 1400 Metres improved close to LO RIDER and as a result was checked to avoid LO RIDER.

In this incident WITHOUT COMPARE shifted in and made contact with KA YING GENERATION.

WITHOUT COMPARE continued to race keenly throughout the middle stages.

J Orman stated that his mount changed stride throughout the event and was unable to respond to his riding in the Home Straight.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 5 FIVEFORTWO (K381) C L Chau From the outside barrier was shifted across behind runners in the early stages.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 6 FORTUNATE SON (J446) C Y Ho Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 7 ROMANTIC GLADIATOR (L240) E C W Wong E C W Wong stated that his mount failed to travel throughout the event and did not respond to his riding in the Home Straight but he could offer no excuse for the performance.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 THE AUSPICIOUS (K004) K Teetan Jumped only fairly.

Horse No 9 CHINA WIN (K395) M L Yeung Leaving the 300 Metres became unbalanced when bumped on the hindquarters by KEEFY.

Raced wide and without cover for the majority of the event.

Horse No 10 WINDLORD (L184) M Chadwick M Chadwick reported that the instructions were to hold an on-pace position, preferably with cover.

He said WINDLORD raced too keenly in the early stages and as a result he was obliged to lead.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 11 KEEFY (G306) M F Poon Leaving the 300 Metres was steadied when crowded between CHINA WIN and WINDLORD (M Chadwick) which shifted out.

M Chadwick was reprimanded and advised he must make a greater effort to straighten his mounts.

In this incident KEEFY made contact with CHINA WIN.
