‘Bukangi’, who has drawn more than 1.6 million visitors, has returned to the canal again after being guided away to open waters in a short-lived rescue.

A 3-metre (9.8ft) female shark has returned to a canal in South Korea’s Busan port only a day after it was guided away from the waterway where it was stuck for around a month. Yesterday’s short-lived success followed two previous failed attempts by authorities to bring the animal back to open waters. There were concerns about the animal’s welfare as water temperatures in the canal fall as autumn approaches, but experts now say its condition is stable. The marooned shark and stories about its plight have drawn more than 1.6 million visitors to the coastal city.
