Indonesian seamen return home after 5 months in Somali pirate captivity
Maritime police rescued 12 surviving crew members last week after recapturing an oil tanker that was hijacked by Somali pirates in April.
Four Indonesian seamen have returned home after being held hostage for over five months by Somali pirates aboard the hijacked oil tanker MT Honour 25. Police from the semi-autonomous region of Puntland in northern Somalia stormed the vessel and rescued the crew members on September 29. Five hostages were killed during the operation while 12 were rescued. Somali piracy has reached its highest level since 2013, with at least 15 attacks since April.
