Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo announced in an Instagram video on Thursday that he was stepping down from the Portuguese national team. “A journey that began in August 2003 and changed my life forever has come to an end,” Ronaldo told his 679 million followers. Ronaldo’s farewell comes after criticism over his performance at the 2026 Fifa World Cup and a recent falling out with the national team’s new coach.
