One dead, more than 600 injured by Typhoon Champi in Taiwan

One person was killed and 616 others were injured as Typhoon Champi hit Taiwan on Saturday, according to its official news agency. The storm uprooted trees and severed power in some parts of the island. Officials estimate the storm caused US$4.2 million in agricultural losses. After moving past the island, Typhoon Champi continued towards Japan and eastern mainland China.
