South Korea’s military has released a video it described as showing a mine exploding Monday during an operation to clear mines along its tense border with the North. Seoul has been working to remove explosives after three of its soldiers were hurt in a September 21 blast it blamed on a North Korean mine in the inter-Korean demilitarised zone (DMZ). South Korea says the North has been placing mines in areas that violate a truce between the nations. Pyongyang has dismissed the accusations and rejected Seoul’s call for an apology.
