Amid growing demand for its coal resources, the country is building out its railway network to boost efficiencies in its trade with China.


Mongolia sits atop immense wealth with its coal resources, so its economy is rapidly transitioning from one that relies on livestock herding to one that provides materials to support the world’s heavy industries, particularly steel production in China. But to maximise the potential of its mining industry, the country must upgrade its infrastructure to allow more efficient transport, and railway expansion is proving to be the best route towards that goal.
