Chinese telecommunications gear giant Huawei Technologies is capitalising on the OpenClaw frenzy with new enterprise agent tools and a series of Kunpeng and Ascend compute offerings, as it bets on surging demand for agentic artificial intelligence services.
The Shenzhen-based company announced at its China Partner Conference on Thursday that it would launch AgentArts, an agent development platform for enterprises, on April 30 for public beta testing, followed by the official release of the open-source version on May 30.
The platform was designed to improve the efficiency of AI agent development, cutting delivery time by more than 60 per cent, according to the company.
“AI agents have moved quickly from concept to large-scale deployment, and OpenClaw, in particular, has become a global phenomenon in the past month or so, with its extremely strong capabilities of autonomous execution,” said Wang Tao, executive director at Huawei, at the conference.

The expanding deployment of agentic AI across industries had driven exponential growth in token consumption, and Huawei aimed to meet the rising demand for computing power with its Kunpeng and Ascend platforms, Wang said.
“In 2026, we will open our hardware series, including modules, standard cards, servers and supernodes, to our partners, and build the foundation of computing power together,” he added.
Huawei has been challenging global rivals, such as Nvidia, with its self-developed Ascend specialised AI computing platform and Kunpeng general-purpose computing foundation, positioning itself as an alternative to US-led AI systems.
The rapid advancement of agentic AI in 2026 has placed central processing units (CPUs) in an essential role of managing agent tools, pre-processes data and coordinates the entire system, said Ma Haixu, a vice-president at Huawei.
“The surge in AI computing is giving a strong lift to general-purpose computing, which brings unprecedented development opportunities for the Kunpeng ecosystem,” Ma said.
Huawei is aiming to capture the shift with its Kunpeng 920C, 950 and the next-gen 960 CPU series, alongside its Taishan supernode clusters, as the hardware foundation for agentic AI, Ma said.
The growing demand for computing services and infrastructure has also become a driving force for Huawei’s enterprise-facing business.
Huawei’s revenue from enterprise and government business in China crossed 100 billion yuan (US$14.6 billion) in 2025 for the first time, Wang said.
The company had also expanded its eight “legions” – cross-departmental teams dedicated to specific industries – to 48 groups to better understand the needs of each industry, according to Li Peng, president of the China region at Huawei.
Huawei posted revenue of more than 880 billion yuan in 2025, the second highest on record for the US-sanctioned company. Its highest ever was 891 billion yuan in 2020, which came after the first US sanctions on its lucrative mobile phone and international operations.
The company has been accelerating its comeback over the past few years, achieving breakthroughs, including in its Ascend AI chips, without relying on American technology.
In September, Huawei unveiled plans to launch upgraded Ascend AI chips over the next three years.
