Master Payment led and never looked back from gate one for a maiden win with a step up to 1,200m after back-to-back seconds to start his career over the straight 1,000m. Whacked late in betting Next Fortune stayed on well for second after a box-seat run. It was clearly his best run on his return to the Sha Tin 1,200m at his fourth career starts. Favourite Better And Better stayed on a distant third after a wide with cover trip just worse than midfield. It was another honest performance. Yeux De Lifeline stayed on well for fourth after a rails run from midfield. It was an improved effort on his return to Sha Tin. Power Patch made ground late near the outside for fifth after biding his time.

Racing Incident Report

Race Three : (756) - HKU FACULTIES OF DENTISTRY AND SOCIAL SCIENCES HANDICAP - Class 4 - 1200Meters

Horse No 1 SKY DEEP (K041) J Moreira Near the 400 Metres shifted in, resulting in its rider J Moreira having to correct his mount.

SKY DEEP then lay in for some distance thereafter.

Horse No 2 MASTER PAYMENT (L159) Z Purton Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 3 VIGOR FLY (L417) B Avdulla Shifted in at the start and was bumped.

B Avdulla reported that near the 550 Metres his mount became unbalanced when racing behind YEUX DE LIFELINE.

Horse No 4 BETTER AND BETTER (K277) A Badel Shortly after the start was bumped by VIGOR FLY which shifted in.

Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 5 E HOPEFUL (L181) E Brown Lay in under pressure in the Home Straight when giving ground.

E Brown stated that he was instructed to go forward from his wide barrier.

He said after his mount shifted in abruptly at the start and made contact with TRENDY RUSH he then rode E HOPEFUL forward to comply with his instructions.

He added that when unable to cross runners to his inside his mount was obliged to race wide and without cover for the majority of the event before giving ground in the Home Straight.

He said, in his opinion, E HOPEFUL is better suited by being ridden in a more conservative manner in the early stages.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 6 GREEN ANGEL (L255) A Atzeni Jumped awkwardly, shifted out and became badly unbalanced when it made heavy contact with ZOUPER FELLOW.

Leaving the 600 Metres became unbalanced when being steadied away from VIGOR FLY.

Horse No 7 ZOUPER FELLOW (K284) P N Wong Shifted out at the start and made contact with POWER PATCH.

Shortly after ZOUPER FELLOW became badly unbalanced when crowded between POWER PATCH and GREEN ANGEL which shifted out.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race did not show any significant findings.

Horse No 8 NEXT FORTUNE (L199) C L Chau Sent for sampling post-race.

Horse No 9 TRENDY RUSH (L209) J Orman On jumping was checked when crowded by E HOPEFUL which shifted in abruptly despite the efforts of its rider.

Horse No 10 POWER PATCH (L100) C Y Ho Crowded on jumping.

Horse No 11 HYANNIS STAR (K331) M F Poon Jumped awkwardly and made contact with the left side of its starting gate.

Approaching the 800 Metres, when racing ungenerously, was checked to avoid SKY DEEP when that runner shifted in slightly when racing close to the heels of ZOUPER FELLOW (Apprentice P N Wong) which shifted in.

Apprentice Wong was advised to exercise more care.

In this incident J Moreira, rider of SKY DEEP, was then unable to relieve the tightening to HYANNIS STAR when racing to the inside of E HOPEFUL which contributed to the interference sustained by HYANNIS STAR.

A veterinary inspection immediately following the race which included an endoscopic examination showed a substantial amount of blood in the horse's trachea.

Before being allowed to race again, HYANNIS STAR will be subjected to an official veterinary examination.
