ONE Championship featherweight Muay Thai champ Tawanchai PK Saenchai has been released from hospital, with talks under way to rebook his title fight against Superbon Singha Mawynn.
The 24-year-old spent a week in hospital being treated for a “serious virus”, a source told the Post, and was released on Saturday.
Tawanchai’s illness caused the Singapore-based martial arts promotion to scrap its ONE Fight Night 17 main event for December 9 in Bangkok.
Former featherweight kickboxing champion Superbon was not aware of Tawanchai’s health issue when he attended Saturday morning’s ONE Fight Night 16 event at Lumpinee Stadium to promote the fight.

With both fighters based in Bangkok, Tawanchai had also been set to appear at the event, with a face-off in the ring planned.
Some fans had questioned online if Tawanchai had been “faking” an illness, after he reposted pictures of himself out to dinner with friends, which had seemingly been taken on Saturday night.

Footage of Tawanchai sparring at the PK Saenchai gym was also posted to social media on Sunday, but the Post understands it was recorded before he was hospitalised.
The Post received a picture taken by Tawanchai’s camp of the fighter in a hospital bed last week, hooked up to an IV drip.
ONE has not officially confirmed Tawanchai’s health status or his withdrawal from the fight with Superbon. But discussions with both fighters have now started to book their highly anticipated fight for a third time.
The bout was originally set to headline last weekend’s card, but Superbon withdrew in late September after suffering a 3.54cm tear in his calf muscle.
