Participants from more than 60 countries and regions have converged on Hong Kong for the city’s fifth edition of Hyrox.
The Cigna Healthcare Hyrox Hong Kong 2026 started on Friday at AsiaWorld-Expo, with organisers expecting more than 19,500 competitors at the three-day fitness event – more than double last year’s turnout, and making it the largest Hyrox event in Hong Kong.
Among the eager competitors at the event – which combines eight different workout stations with eight 1km (0.6-mile) runs in between stations – was local fitness trainer Clayton Law Chun-yip.
Law signed up for eight races across the weekend, spanning solo, men’s doubles, mixed doubles and relay events in both open and professional categories.
The 33-year-old, who had already completed 37 Hyrox races before this weekend, put himself through an intense schedule that included five races in Osaka and six in Taipei in the build-up to the event in the city.

Law opened his Hong Kong campaign with a time of 59 minutes and 43 seconds in the men’s doubles on Friday.
“I never held back in any race. I always go all out to push myself and see where my limits are,” Law said. “One race at a time. I don’t think about how many races I still have left – I just focus on finishing the one in front of me.”
He added that the home atmosphere had given him an extra lift.
“The atmosphere in Hong Kong this time is especially good. I could hear constant cheers inside the venue, people calling my name, and my teammates supporting me beside me.”
South Korean duo Kim Seung-wan and Jeong In-woo, both based in Hong Kong, also competed in the men’s doubles, finishing in 1:18:04.
“It was so exhausting, I almost gave up, but my partner led me so I could finish,” said Kim, competing in his first Hyrox after just three training sessions. “But I will consider my next Hyrox after this time.”
Jeong, racing in Hong Kong for the second time, said the venue had expanded to accommodate more people competing this year, and that had improved the experience.
“We only need to run one lap between each workout station, less than last year. It’s more convenient for racers,” Jeong said.

It was not difficult to recognise the experienced competitors in the venue by the numerous finisher patches attached to their backpacks.
Among them was a Philippine racer surnamed Que, who is competing in Hong Kong for the third time.
“It’s the community that keeps us coming back,” Que said. “Hong Kong is the closest for us, and everything is very familiar. We can also bring our families.”
Inspired by him, his wife and eldest son also joined this year’s event. Que will compete in Hyrox again in Incheon, South Korea, next week.
Chinese Taipei competitor Fu Shu-ting, racing in the women’s solo and who attended with her coach Cheng Yi-ling, praised both the city and the event.
“Hong Kong is close to Taiwan and has lots of delicious food, so it’s easy for us to come,” Fu said. “The atmosphere here is great and the facilities are very good.”
Fu added that Hyrox offered a unique challenge.
“Hyrox lets you push your limits, and on the course there are many people doing the same thing at the same time.”

The adaptive category, for athletes with physical, neurological or sensory impairments, was introduced in Hong Kong last year and has continued to grow, with more than 20 participants this year, including locals supported by NGOs and competitors from overseas.
Ding Jianyi, from Wuhan, made his adaptive solo debut after previously competing in men’s doubles events in mainland China because there was no adaptive category.
The 30-year-old, who does not have a right arm, finished in 1:15:32, hitting his pre-race target.
“This is my first solo, because there is no adaptive category in mainland China,” he said. “Before, I could race only in doubles, with my partner doing the stations I couldn’t do.”
