Coleman Wong Chak-lam has been drawn to Mariano Navone of Argentina in the first round of the Bank of China Hong Kong Tennis Open, while favourites Alexandre Muller and Andrey Rublev can only face each other in the final.
The main draw starts on Monday with the singles and doubles first rounds, while the second round will get under way on Wednesday at Victoria Park Tennis Stadium.
Muller, the defending champion, takes on Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic in the first round, while world No 16 Rublev, who won the tournament in 2024, has received a bye into the second round.
Top seed and world No 8 Lorenzo Musetti, world No 11 Alexander Bublik and world No 17 Karen Khachanov are the other players to receive byes into the second round.
Ranked 150th in the world, Wong has faced a difficult Argentine opponent before, beating world No 86 Juan Cerundolo in the first qualifying round of the ATP Masters in Cincinnati last year. The 21-year-old was eventually knocked out in the second round by Ugo Humbert of France.

Still searching for his maiden victory on the centre court at the Hong Kong Open, if Wong makes it to the second round he will face the winner of Jesper De Jong and tournament sixth seed Gabriel Diallo.
Wong’s side of the draw also features Musetti and Rublev, who he battled in a five-set thriller in the third round of the US Open last August.
China’s Wu Yibing is in the same half as Wong and will play Fabian Marozsan of Hungary. Jerry Shang Juncheng faces Francisco Comesana of Argentina in the first round.
Marin Cilic, the 2014 US Open champion, who last competed in the city in 2024, is also in the top half of the draw with Wong. The world No 73 Croat faces Adrian Mannarino of France in the first round.
The action gets under way on Sunday with the qualifiers, where Hong Kong’s Kai Thompson, who won youth team bronze at the National Games, will take on Emilio Nava of the United States.
Entry is free for spectators on a first-come, first-served basis for the qualifying matches, while there are some HK$270 (US$34.65) seats still available for the opening rounds.
