Organisers of Manchester United’s match in Hong Kong next month have confirmed that the city’s representative team will provide the opposition during the English Premier League club’s first visit in 12 years.
The date of the friendly fixture has also been confirmed as May 30, a Friday, with kick-off at 8pm.
It follows the Post’s revelation earlier this month that United would be playing in the city, in a match staged at Hong Kong Stadium rather than in the new 50,000-seat venue at Kai Tak Sports Park.
The game falls a day before Hong Kong’s FA Cup final, prompting questions over whether the local association would move the domestic showpiece to avoid a clash. The final is guaranteed to feature Tai Po or Eastern, who meet in one of the semi-finals and could each normally be expected to provide a number of Hong Kong squad members.
However, a source on Tuesday told the Post that the final, which is taking place at Mong Kok Stadium, would not be rescheduled.

The visit could also come at a busy time for 20-time English champions United.
They will arrive in Hong Kong from Malaysia, where they will face Asean All Stars at Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Kuala Lumpur on May 28.
Their final match of the Premier League season is on May 25 against Aston Villa at Old Trafford, with a potential Uefa Europa League final three days previously should Ruben Amorim’s side reach that stage.
United will also take part in a pre-season tour of the United States as well as a friendly against Leeds United in Stockholm ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
“We appreciate the amazing level of support that Manchester United enjoys around the world and this summer we are delighted to deliver a schedule that provides our fans in Asia, Scandinavia and the United States the opportunity to connect with the club and watch the men’s first team play live in local settings,” United CEO Omar Berrada said.
“Importantly, tour fixtures drive significant additional revenue which help make the club stronger, allowing us to keep investing in success on the pitch.
“They also create unique opportunities for us to collaborate with our valued commercial partners, and to deepen relationships with our fans in regions such as Asia and the US.”
United will be making their first appearance in Hong Kong since 2013, when they arrived as reigning league champions with David Moyes as manager.
The official announcement will come on Thursday, with former United player Dwight Yorke present, as well as Hong Kong head coach Ashley Westwood.
The news comes after the announcement of the Hong Kong Football Festival which will take place in July with matches between Liverpool and AC Milan as well as Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at Kai Tak Stadium.
