Four Chinese villages were listed in the UN Tourism’s 2025 edition of “Best Tourism Villages”. The list was announced last month. The four spots are Huanggang in Guizhou province, Jikayi in Sichuan province, Dongluo in Jiangsu province and Digang in Zhejiang province.
According to an official in charge of applying for the award, the villages show how China’s rural tourism has grown.
Previous editions have listed 15 other villages in China. In total, China now has 19 “Best Tourism Villages”.
The four newly chosen spots have natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Forests cover 85 per cent of Huanggang’s land. The Dong ethnic group has lived in this village for 800 years. Jikayi is celebrated for its biodiversity and multiethnic heritage.
Dongluo has beautiful waterways, ancient farming practices and a layout from the Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Digang has pretty landscapes and a history of about 2,500 years.
