Singaporean and Chinese students led the world in educational performance in 2025, according to a new assessment. The survey was done by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
The OECD is made up of 38 member nations. It includes the United States, Britain, Australia and many European countries.
The 2025 Programme for International Student Assessment surveyed 760,000 15-year-old students. They came from 91 countries and economies, including OECD members. This survey takes place every three years.
In the report, Singapore outscored China in reading. The city state also performed strongly in maths and science.
Students from mainland China led globally in maths with 612 points and in science with 597 points.
The students surveyed in mainland China came from Beijing, Shanghai, Jiangsu province and Zhejiang province.
