Following the hottest June on record, large parts of China continued to face unrelenting heat. Provinces like Shaanxi, Sichuan, Henan and Hubei saw temperatures soar past 40 degrees Celsius.
In cities such as Xian and Wuhan, even nighttime low temperatures hovered near 30 degrees Celsius. The heat is an around-the-clock challenge.
