Hong Kong police suspect a pack of dogs attacked a 27-year-old woman who was found unconscious beside a bicycle in Yuen Long and later died, less than a month after a similar canine-related case.
The woman was discovered on Pok Wai South Road at 12.42am on Sunday, according to the force. The victim, who worked as a background music operator, was taken to Pok Oi Hospital in Yuen Long and pronounced dead at 2.09am.
Security camera footage showed her leaving Yuen Long MTR station at 11.40pm on Saturday and riding a shared bicycle home, acting assistant Yuen Long district commander Cheung Chun-tong said.
By 11.55pm, three dogs were seen chasing her along Pok Wai South Road, about 30 metres (98 feet) from where she was later found near a Drainage Services Department sewage pumping station.
Passers-by reported seeing three to four stray dogs nearby when they discovered her, Cheung said.


Officers also saw wild boars and stray dogs in the area. The victim suffered lacerations to her head, face, neck, arms and legs, with the wounds to her head and neck believed to have been fatal.
Investigators are still trying to locate the dogs, described as medium-sized. They could not confirm whether fighting-dog breeds were involved because the footage was unclear in the dim light.
The case is being handled by the Yuen Long district crime squad.
The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said it was deeply concerned about the suspected dog attack.
It said it was fully cooperating with police in their investigation, and joined officers in conducting dog-catching operations in the area on Sunday night to safeguard public safety.
The incident followed recent dog attacks that have heightened public concern in the city.

In August, a large unleashed mastiff-type dog mauled two smaller pets to death in Yuen Long, drawing public anger.
A few days later, a woman, 33, who operated a canine training centre in Ta Kwu Ling, North district, was attacked by a dog at the facility and later found dead nearby.
The animal involved was a fighting-dog crossbreed, prompting calls for tighter control of aggressive breeds and better enforcement of stray management.
Pok Wai South Road is a well-used route for local residents who regularly cycle or jog to and from home. Overlooking the Nam Sang Wai wetlands and ponds, it is a renowned scenic spot, particularly at sunset.
A resident in his sixties from nearby Wing Kei Tsuen, who cycles past the location daily, said he was shocked by the incident and had never heard of anything similar in his 20 years of living in the neighbourhood.
He said there were very few stray dogs in the area and that they were generally not aggressive. Nor were there any active construction sites nearby where security‑conscious guard dogs were usually kept.
Asked whether he would take extra precautions, the resident said he rarely cycled out at night when he suspected stray dogs were more likely to roam.
