Hong Kong rescuers are searching for a 79-year-old man missing since Saturday, with authorities discovering one of his shoes nearly 20 hours into the operation.

Police said on Sunday the man, surnamed He, was hiking with his wife along Section 10 of the MacLehose Trail at around 10am the day before. They had been heading in the direction of the Tai Lam Chung Reservoir in Tuen Mun, the force said.

According to a social media post from the man’s adult child, he split off from his wife at the entrance of Tai Lam Country Park after feeling tired.
