Hong Kong police have arrested two more people in connection with a knife attack in Yuen Long that left one man dead and another injured, bringing the total number of those apprehended to six.
The force on Friday only identified the two men as a 23-year-old surnamed Cheuk and a 26-year-old surnamed Chiu. It added that another two of the suspects would appear in court the next day.
The Post learned that the latest suspects were allegedly members of a triad group and had been employed as construction workers.
A source said the pair had no previous convictions.
Four other people were arrested earlier this week. Two men, aged 27 and 29, were apprehended on Wednesday in Tuen Mun and at the city’s airport, respectively.
Two other suspects, aged 19 and 21, were detained by Thai authorities upon their arrival at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport on the same day. They were sent back to the city the following day.
Hong Kong police said holding charges comprising one count of murder and another count of wounding had been laid against the 19-year-old man, who was only identified as Lai, and the 27-year-old surnamed Fung.
Fung also faces one count of illegal possession of a Part 1 poison after police found 672 cartridges believed to contain the street drug “space oil” in the Tuen Mun flat where he was arrested.
The case will be mentioned at Tuen Mun Court on Saturday.
“The remaining four arrested persons are being detained for further inquiries,” police said.

Etomidate, the main component of space oil, is a short-acting anaesthetic and is currently listed as a Part 1 poison, which can only be prescribed by a doctor.
Authorities have proposed listing etomidate under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, with the amendment expected to take effect from February 14.
The six suspects were allegedly involved in an attack on two men at around 5.30am on Wednesday, with the incident believed to have resulted from long-standing grievances and relationship entanglements.
Seven to eight masked attackers wielding knives appeared from four black vehicles and assaulted the pair near Hi Yip Factory Building on Wang Yip Street West in Yuen Long before they fled the scene.
The victims were a 24-year-old surnamed Chan and a 28-year-old only identified as Cheng.
Chan sustained arm and leg wounds during the attack and was later certified dead in hospital. Cheng suffered back and arm injuries.
Police earlier said the attackers, including the four suspects arrested at the time and those at large, belonged to a triad group.
The New Territories North regional crime unit is currently investigating the case.
