Hong Kong airport named world’s best at Global Travel Awards 2026
City’s airport also recognised for security standards and facilities

Hong Kong International Airport has been voted the world’s best airport, along with accolades recognising its security standards and facilities.
An Airport Authority spokesman said on Wednesday that the city’s airport had been named “Best Airport in the World” at the Global Travel Awards this year.
Organiser International Media & News Group, based in Britain, said the awards recognised the best hotels, airports, airlines and destinations based on votes cast by 2.5 million travellers from more than 150 countries. The awards were launched 20 years ago.
Vivian Cheung Kar-fay, Airport Authority CEO, pledged to continue expanding the airport’s network to reinforce the city’s role as an aviation hub.
“We are truly honoured to receive the best airport awards across such a wide range of areas, which reflect the dedication and collective efforts of the entire Hong Kong International Airport community,” Cheung said.
Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) was also voted the best airport in China at the 2026 TTG China Travel Awards, clinching the title for the third consecutive year. The award was established in 2008 to recognise travel service providers including airlines, hotel groups and other tourism-related businesses.
