Julien Royer opens first Hong Kong restaurant
Opening on June 18, the French chef Julien Royer has teamed up with JIA Group to open a traditional French concept, Louise, at PMQ – the listed former Hollywood Road Police Married Quarters – where Aberdeen Street Social used to be located.

The restaurant offers casual and refined fare, described as “traditional French cuisine, reimagined, honest cooking with which Royer was brought up”.
Royer topped Asia’s 50 Best this year for his two-Michelin star restaurant, Odette, in Singapore.

This will be his first venture outside Singapore. The interiors have been overseen by the internationally renowned architect, Andre Fu. Bookings are now available.

Sip Song

Maximal Concepts will open a Thai eatery and bar at The Pulse in Repulse Bay at the end of the month.
Sip Song is inspired by beach culture in southern Thailand and Bangkok’s night market fare.
The menu will lean heavily on head chef Nuch Srichantranon’s experience growing up in Bangkok while group executive chef Russell Doctrove will be adding an Australian twist.
Signature dishes will include roti kor muu yang prik pow / “don't tell Mom” roti pancake with barbecue pork neck, chilli jam, spring onion, fresh herbs and shallots and kai loog keuy / Thai son-in-law Scotch egg with mince chicken, crispy shallots and chilli.

Featuring heavily in the design is a children’s play area, with games such as giant Jenga and noughts and crosses on the wall.

Rajasthan Rifles

Black Sheep Restaurants have been busy with restaurant openings in recent months, and following the launches Hotal Colombo and Taqueria Super Macho, Rajasthan Rifles is set to open on The Peak soon.
The concept of Rajasthan Rifles is Anglo-Indian cuisine, a salute to the British Indian army stationed in the subcontinent and the era when it started accepting officers of Indian heritage in the 1920s.
This is Black Sheep Restaurant’s first foray onto The Peak and it aims to create a hub for people who live in the area.
Rajasthan Rifles is currently open for dinner until 10pm, Tuesday to Sunday, and will be open for breakfast and lunch soon. Chef Palash Mitra is overseeing the menu.

Gin Fest 2019

Gin lovers, make a date in your diaries, as Hong Kong’s second annual Gin Fest takes place on Saturday June 8, from noon to 4pm at John Anthony.
There will be 13 world-class mixologists and more than 30 gin brands under one roof.
The one-day event showcases the very best of craft gins such as Applewood, The Botanist and Gin Mare.

Man Wah tea pairing menu

The Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong’s fine-dining Chinese restaurant, Man Wah, is offering a tea pairing menu from now until June 28.
The seven-course menu is paired with premium Chinese teas.
Combinations include such wild ancient black tea from Guizhou province paired with pan-fried abalone, suckling pig and marinated sea cucumber with yuzu.
Shi ya ba green tea from Huizhou province is combined with baked half lobster in supreme broth, wok-fried chicken with preserved black bean and pan-fried wagyu with matsutake mushroom.
Finally, the Wuyuan gold chrysanthemum tea from Jiangxi province will be matched with the steamed winter melon with crabmeat, tossed angel hair and the dessert of ginger panna cotta.

FUMI’s new Father’s Day Sunday brunch

The Japanese restaurant, FUMI, rolls out its new Sunday brunch on Father’s Day.
The revamped FUMI Sunday Brunch offers appetiser and salad, sashimi and sushi, tempura and grill.
A takoyaki station will serve freshly made octopus balls.
There is a choice of main courses including Japanese seafood soup, miso cod, vegetable small pot, grilled Japanese chicken teriyaki and A4 Miyazaki beef himi udon in soup.
A dessert platter will also be served to end.
Families that come with dads on Father’s Day can enjoy a buy-3-get-1-free discount.
For dinner, all dads who come with their family can enjoy a free glass of Yamazaki whisky.
