Tributes continue to pour in following the death of beloved country legend Dolly Parton last week – though some have proven more controversial than others. Allie Colleen, country singer and daughter of Garth Brooks, has faced sharp criticism after her emotional tribute to the “Jolene” icon was deemed insensitive by fans.

“My greatest fear in life is the day my dad loses his life, and I have to see the world mourn a man they never knew the way I knew him,” she wrote on Instagram, before extending her condolences to Parton’s family and friends.
The post sparked a divided response online, with some users sympathising with her sentiment while others criticised the timing. “This is the weirdest condolence post I have ever seen,” one commenter wrote. “It’s giving how can I make something not about myself, about me. This is nepo baby at its worst.”
“Allie, just a note. Next time, let someone read your work before you publish it. I know what you meant, however now was not the time to say it,” another added.
Responding to a user questioning her message, Allie defended her post: “This is my account – I am saying I don’t know how to respond to these things in my industry because of my life experiences. I’m not telling anyone else how to grieve. I’m just acknowledging the family. You do you babe.”

What is Allie Colleen Brooks’ background?

Born on July 28, 1996, Allie Colleen Brooks is the youngest of country star Garth Brooks’ three daughters with his ex-wife, Sandy Mahl – whom he married in 1986 and divorced in 2001. Her elder sisters are Taylor Mayne Pearl Brooks, 34, and August Anna Brooks, 32.
During an appearance on the Children of Song podcast, Allie revealed that her parents “shut down everything” to raise her and her siblings. “I don’t know what it’s like to have celebrity parents. My dad was there every night,” she said, adding that Brooks and Mahl made them switch households every evening.

Following his 2001 divorce from Mahl, the “Unanswered Prayers” singer married fellow country singer Trisha Yearwood in 2005. Yearwood embraced her role as a “bonus mum”, telling People in 2021: “They let me learn my way and allowed me to be that third parent in their lives.”
She’s a musician just like her dad


Allie Colleen took up songwriting at age eight after struggling with communication, she told Ohio public radio station WOUB. However, her father insisted she earn a college degree before pursuing music professionally, according to Fox News. She went on to study songwriting and music business at Belmont University, graduating in 2018.
Today, the 30-year-old musician is signed to Evangeline Records. Having released her debut album Stones in 2021 and toured alongside Jelly Roll, she remains driven by a strong work ethic: “I want to work my tail off and be just like my dad,” she told Entertainment Focus.

Allie Colleen grew up around animals through her family’s involvement with Wild Heart Ranch, a wildlife rescue service based in Bushyhead, Oklahoma.
