The Summer I Turned Pretty’s third and final season has brought Isabel “Belly” Conklin’s love triangle to a dramatic peak.
But beyond her love life, Belly (portrayed by Lola Tung) must also deal with her strained relationship with her mother Laurel (played by Jackie Chung). Her engagement announcement not only stirred up drama for the Fisher brothers – it turned her family lunch into full-blown chaos. Add to that the complicated relationship between her brother, Steven (played by Sean Kaufman), and her best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer), and you’ve got a household brimming with tension.

While emotions run high, John Conklin tries to remain a caring and easy-going father to Belly and Steven, doing his best to make things work between his ex-wife and children.
The actor behind this calming figure is Colin Ferguson, who’s also known for his role in the SyFy series Eureka. But what else is there to know about the 53-year-old actor?
What else has Colin Ferguson been in?

Ferguson’s most iconic role was his five-season run as Sheriff Jack Carter in the SyFy show Eureka. In 2013, he talked about his experience in an interview with Out Magazine. “I miss the family of it. You have the same crew and same cast for six years, you know you see children being born and marriages,” he said. “You really end up growing up with them and quite close to them.”

The Canadian actor has also starred in The Vampire Diaries as Tripp Cooke and as William in Haven. He is a familiar face to fans of the Hallmark network, having appeared in several of its films, including the Fixer Upper Mysteries series alongside singer and actor Jewel.
He is the Maytag Man

If none of his TV roles ring a bell, then you might recognise Ferguson as the Maytag Man. Ferguson has been the face of the appliance brand since 2014, notes Entertainment Weekly. The Maytag Man is one of advertising’s longest-running icons, first introduced in the 1960s with actor Jesse White portraying a repairman who had no work to do because of the dependable machines.
He’s a father off-screen too

The Quebec-born actor married a woman named Lindsay Thompson in 2012, and the couple welcomed their son a year later. It’s unclear whether Ferguson and Thompson are still together, as he did an interview about co-parenting with a former partner in 2022.
While Ferguson is not the most active on social media, he does occasionally share heartwarming snippets of his life as a doting dad.
He spent his childhood in Hong Kong

Ferguson has called Los Angeles home for a while, but before that, he lived in England, and even Hong Kong. In an interview with The PC Principle, Ferguson revealed that he spent about five years of his childhood in the Asian city.
During that time, he enjoyed watching the 1980s series, Scarecrow and Mrs. King. Years later, life came full circle when Ferguson appeared alongside the show’s lead, Bruce Boxleitner, in Cedar Cove.
