Claire Choisne, creative director of Boucheron, suggests we pay close attention to the rings in her 2026 Carte Blanche high jewellery collection. Indeed, each of the five rings reveals much about the feats of technical innovation possible for the French maison, the first to set up shop in Paris’ venerated Place Vendôme.
“Although they all share a very similar silhouette, each one showcases a completely different craftsmanship and technical innovation,” says Choisne of the exquisite and unusual rings.
This includes the micro-painting used on the Flower set, where rose quartz is hand-painted to create the floral motif, and the 3,750 hours of work required for the Tattoo set, which features engraved smoky quartz. Another, named Rain, in crystal and diamonds, appears as if soft water droplets are caressing the skin.
“Each ring expresses the same universal vision: all the same, [yet] all one of a kind,” Choisne explains. “Just like the collection, the pieces may appear similar at first glance, but each reveals its own identity through a unique artistic language and exceptional craftsmanship.”

That a ring can encapsulate the craftsmanship and indeed essence of a maison is a key theme across many of the collections this high jewellery season.
Take Cartier, which not only released its favoured big cats into the wild, but expressed its very Cartier approach to colour combinations with the new high jewellery collection Le Chœur des Pierres. This includes a slew of incredible cocktail rings that are perhaps a nod also to the maison’s legendary long-time creative director Jeanne Toussaint, known for wearing glittering knuckle-duster rings on her pinky fingers. Bold and vibrant, each is set with a vivid gemstone – among them, Mozambique ruby – and rare coloured diamonds, including an 11.6-carat grey stone.

Rings this season also allowed the jewellery houses to deepen connections to their most treasured motifs. This was certainly true of Tiffany & Co.’s Bird on a Rock motif, reimagined in many ways since Jean Schlumberger’s original in 1965, including this season in pieces such as the Bird on a Rock aquamarine and chrysoprase ring. Here, the funny little bird nestles atop a 9.62-carat aquamarine as part of a collection that explores the delights of a secret garden.

Meanwhile, at Bulgari, the Roman jeweller’s Serpenti coils around the finger, its scales rendered in black onyx, and white and yellow diamonds.

The smaller scale of a ring – as opposed to, say, the impressiveness of a statement necklace – allows a maison to flex its savoir faire. At Chopard, flowers and butterflies have been rendered with such lightness, in white gold and diamonds, they appear as if animated. The miracles of nature in flow.
Meanwhile at Gucci, the art of the cocktail ring as ultimate conversation starter is reaffirmed with vibrant coloured gemstones – including in the Gucci Flora chapter, where the Orchid ring is set with pink Madagascan sapphires.

Within Van Cleef & Arpels’ Fascinating Egypt collection, rings featuring scroll motifs are both unusual and compelling – so too the colour combinations of blue sapphires and emeralds that nod to the art deco era that took to Egyptomania with particular gusto.
Beyond statements and savoir faire, rings express the fundamental inspirations of each maison – as true of the camellia rings at Chanel as the monogram diamond-set ones at Louis Vuitton. This is also the case at Piaget, which this season used its long-standing history in ornamental stone watches as its reference. Stéphanie Sivrière, director of the Piaget design studio for jewellery, high jewellery and watchmaking, notes that the watch rings the Swiss maison showcased in this collection encapsulate this intention perfectly.

“Historically, we are watchmakers that became jewellers, which brings us to the watch ring – the perfect example of the duality at Piaget, between the precision of watchmaking and the artistry of jewellery making,” she says.
“For the watch rings, I wanted to use ornamental stones on the dial, which reminds us of the dials on our timekeepers … as a ring is quite small, the precision of the stone cutting is here more important than ever.”
Ultimately, Sivrière says, the proportions of the ring allow the design teams to achieve balance – and the art of exuberance. One of her favourites in the collection is a combination of tiger’s eye, an ornamental stone, and spessartite, a fine gemstone.

“The combination of both is absolutely incredible – very Piaget,” she says. “At first, you don’t imagine those beautiful stones put together, but then, you can’t imagine them being apart again.”
Sivrière feels that the colours we are drawn to can reveal much about us, explaining that at Piaget, colour is much more than a mere aesthetic choice – “it represents a fundamental aspect of our identity”.
The same could be said of wearing a ring that encapsulates both savoir faire and personal expression.
