July 7 at 9.50am marked the start of the “true” Goat month of 2026 – which this year falls on the 23rd day of the fifth lunar month – with the solar term Shu, meaning “continued heat”, signalling that summer temperatures have yet to reach their peak. The highest point is likely to arrive around July 23, the 10th day of the sixth lunar month, bringing the year’s most scorching temperatures.
This is a time to prevent heatstroke and rid the system of “dampness” – a potentially dangerous combination of unbalanced energy.
The elements of the month are Yin Wood and Earth, with the sixth month of the Chinese calendar represented by the Wood Goat, Yi Wei.
The Goat corresponds to the hours between 1pm and 3pm, and is associated with family, teamwork and sensitivity.
In traditional Chinese culture, the Goat zodiac sign is lucky, warm-hearted, gentle, tender, well-mannered and creative.
