Eva Longoria may be a household name in Hollywood, celebrated for her comedic acting chops in shows like Desperate Housewives and her eternal beauty at age 50, but in her private life, she’s a doting family member to her three sisters: Esmeralda, Elizabeth and Emily.

And apparently, she grew up feeling like the “ugly duckling” among her siblings.

“I was performative in my family because I was the ugly duckling. Documentation is available if you need it,” she explained in an interview by Today back in March. “My three sisters look alike. They are all blonde. I knew I wasn’t the pretty one and I was like, ‘OK, I’m not the pretty one so I’m going to be the funny one. I’m going to be the smart one.’”

Who are Eva Longoria’s parents?

Eva often speaks highly of her parents. Her mum, Ella Longoria, became a special needs teacher when Elizabeth was born with an intellectual disability, notes People magazine.
“My mother even applied to be a teacher’s assistant and was assigned to my sister’s class. She followed Liza from grade to grade,” Eva told The Wall Street Journal.
Her father, Enrique Longoria, worked as a rancher and mechanical engineer.
Where did the Longoria sisters grow up?

The girls spent their childhood on their family ranch near Corpus Christi, Texas, notes People magazine. “Growing up on a farm gives you an appreciation for nature, animals, gardening and where food comes from,” Eva told The Beverly Hills Courier. “My dad would never let us eat fast food because we grew so many vegetables.”
Do Eva Longoria’s sisters speak Spanish?

Eva didn’t grow up speaking Spanish, according to People magazine. Her parents didn’t teach their children the language. “[At] that time – and still – there was a big push for assimilation for kids by the school system and by society of like, ‘Don’t let them have an accent,’ and ‘Don’t let them be othered,’ and ‘Don’t let them speak any other language,’” she explained during an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.
Is Eva Longoria close with her sisters?

Eva has always spoken very fondly of her family, including her siblings. In 2006, she founded Eva’s Heroes in honour of her sister, Liza, notes Today. The organisation is “dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with intellectual special needs ages 14 and older”, according to its website.
“Growing up with you as a sister has taught me so many things: the importance of inclusion and advocating for the rights of individuals with intellectual special needs,” Eva shared during a joint appearance with Liza on Today with Jenna & Friends in January.
