Meet WNBA star Cameron Brink: the Los Angeles Sparks forward – and godsister to Stephen Curry – had her rookie season cut short, but she’s busy showing off her fashion cred and recently got engaged

Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink has had quite the year. The WNBA star stepped onto the court for the first time in her rookie season for the professional basketball league on May 4 in a preseason game against the Seattle Storm. Then, in early June, she was named to Team USA’s 3x3 Olympic team. However, just a few weeks later her dream of Olympic glory was dashed when she tore her ACL in a game against the Connecticut Sun. Her status is still listed as out. Despite being benched, though, Brink has plenty of other things to keep her busy. She’s hustling hard to stay relevant off the court with a series of glamorous appearances and brand endorsements, and recently got engaged to her long-time boyfriend. But who is Cameron Brink, the blonde bombshell basketball player who made a splash on and off the court in 2024? Here’s what to know. Basketball’s in her blood Brinks was born in New Jersey on New Year’s Eve 2001 and lived in Amsterdam, in the Netherlands, as a small child. When she was 11, the family moved to Beaverton, Oregon, where Brinks grew up in a family immersed in basketball. Both her parents, Greg Brink and Michelle Bain-Brink, played at Virginia Tech on basketball scholarships. It was here that they met and became friends with Dell and Sonya Curry, parents to Golden State Warriors player Stephen Curry. Now, the senior Currys are godparents to Cameron Brink, while Stephen is godson to Brinks’ parents. As a child, Brink was more interested in art than sport but eventually, she discovered basketball and her competitive streak. In high school, Brink began showing promise in the sport and won a string of accolades, including McDonald’s All-American and Jordan Brand Classic All-American in 2020. She was also a three-time Naismith High School All-America from 2018 to 2020 and rated the number three player in the country by ESPN. The sport eventually brought her to a collegiate career at Stanford University. She was a crucial member of the team throughout her college career and won several awards – including the 2024 Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award – confirming her talents on the court. On the international front, Brink has been a member of USA Basketball since 2017. She won gold at the 2018 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup and the 2019 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup, and was named MVP of the 2023 FIBA 3x3 Women’s World Cup held in Vienna, Austria. Her WNBA career Brink was drafted into the WNBA in 2024 as part of the most anticipated class in the league’s history. The Los Angeles Sparks chose her as their number two overall pick of the year. Her rookie season got off to a decent start when she played 22 minutes and scored 11 points in her first game against the Seattle Storm. She’s also showed off her defensive skills, pulling 5.3 rebounds across the season. However, Brink’s season came to an abrupt end in June when she sustained an ACL injury during game 15 of the season against the Connecticut Sun. Despite not playing out the whole season, the forward shared recently in an interview that basketball will continue to be her focus as she works towards recovery. She’s a DEI advocate Brink has also made it her mission to drive diversity and representation within the league, and has been vocal about the opportunities she’s received throughout her career. “I will acknowledge there’s a privilege for the younger white players of the league,” she shared in a June interview with Sports Illustrated. “That’s not always true, but there is a privilege that we have inherently, and the privilege of appearing feminine. Some of my teammates are more masculine … I want to bring more acceptance to that and not just have people support us because of the way that we look. I know I can feed into that because I like to dress femininely, but that’s just me. I want everyone to be accepted – not just paid attention to because of how they look.” She’s adamant that she and her fellow 2024 rookies are in a position to drive the sport to new heights, including “growing the fan base to support all types of players,” Brink continued. She’s an emerging style star The stylish Brink caught the attention of fashion brands on WNBA draft night, where she walked the red carpet in a glamorous black-and-white off-shoulder cut-out dress from Balmain. She paired the look with a classic Lady Dior bag in white. Since then, she’s brought her A-Game when to her game-day looks, often sporting her signature low-rise, belly-bearing look paired with a figure-hugging top that highlights her Gen Z status. Off the court, she’s becomes a regular face at events and branded engagements, appearing at parties hosted by top luxury brands such as Giorgio Armani. When Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand Skims announced its official partnership with the WNBA, Brink starred in several campaigns sporting a nude tube top and briefs. She also appeared in ads alongside other WNBA players, including Kelsey Plum, Skylar Diggins-Smith, DiJonai Carrington and Candace Parker. She got engaged in Paris She may not have been able to compete at the Olympics but thanks to her style cred, Brinks made it over to Paris in October for the city’s fashion week. With her was her long-time boyfriend, Stanford Rowing team member Ben Felter. The couple met on campus and began dating in 2021. While enjoying their romantic sojourn in the City of Lights, Felter proposed to the WNBA star on the rooftop of the Shangri-La Paris hotel. Brink wore a curve-hugging white turtleneck dress, perfectly complementing her emerald-cut engagement ring.
