If you’re a royal watcher or celebrity hound fascinated with the lives of the rich and fabulous, social media is a great way to get glimpses into their daily lives.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex famously shut down their @sussexroyal Instagram account in March 2020 when they stepped back from royal life, opting to live a more private existence. But could they be missing out on another form of revenue by not being on social media?

A recent survey by money.co.uk in collaboration with Influencer Marketing Hub found that royal Instagram accounts have the potential of earning tens of thousands of dollars per sponsored post – if they were ever a little short of cash. The survey is also a good insight into which royals have the most followers and engagement globally.
We took a look at the top 10 royal influencers and their social media earning potential.
Who are Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s closest celebrity friends?
1. Prince William and Kate Middleton

Topping the list is Britain’s king and queen-in-waiting with their @dukeandduchessofcambridge Instagram account, which has more than 13 million followers. According to the study, Kate Middleton and Prince William have a potential earning of up to US$43,360 per sponsored post.
2. Crown Prince Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum of Dubai

Dubai’s Crown Prince Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, also known as Fazza to his fans on his Faz3 Instagram account, has 12.7 million followers. The 39-year-old multi-world champion equestrian can potentially earn up to US$42,100 per sponsored post.
3. Queen Elizabeth

Queen Elizabeth is third on the list with 10.3 million followers on @theroyalfamily Instagram account. Should she ever need extra income, she could earn up to US$34,200 per sponsored post.
4. Queen Rania of Jordan

Queen Rania of Jordan describes herself as “a mum and a wife with a really cool day job” on her @queenrania Instagram account. The 51-year-old queen consort of Jordan has 6.5 million followers and potential earnings of up to US$21,540 per sponsored post.

5. Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan

Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan is the 27-year-old son of Queen Rania, and his Instagram @alhusseinjo has 2.9 million followers. His potential earnings could be up to US$9,660 per sponsored post.
6. Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Macron, the French president is indeed royalty – for now. French presidents are co-princes of Andorra, and he has 2.7 million followers on his @emmanuelmacron Instagram. If he were to post sponsored content, he could make up to US$9,190 for each post.
7. Prince Mateen of Brunei

Prince Mateen of Brunei is the 10th child and fourth son of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei and his former second wife Puan Hajan Mariam binti Haji Abdul Aziz. The 30-year-old prince has 2.3 million followers on his @tmski account with potential earnings of up to US$7,777 if he were to have a sponsored post.
8. Princess Eugenie

Britain’s Princess Eugenie of York comes in at No 8 with 1.5 million followers on her @princesseugenie Instagram with potential earnings of up to US$5,200 per post.
9. Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles

Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles are at No 9 with 1.5 million on their @clarencehouse Instagram, with potential earnings reaching up to US$5,155.

And at No 10 is The Royal Hashemite Court of Jordan with their @rhcjo account, which has 1.2 million followers and potential earnings of up to US$4,270 per post.
